The Glasgow Zoo in the East End of the City finally closed today after years of controversy. The gates were padlocked and a sign read Glasgow Zoo Closed for redevelopment. A worker and volunteer made a final plea for the safeguard of the animals by displaying one of her 'friends' Rosie a Tarantula through the padlocked gates.<br>Picture by Stephen Mansfield    25/08/2003.

The Venerable (Kamburawala) Rewatha pictured in the Buddhist Temple he has created in a ground floor tenement in Maryhill, Glasgow. GOMA GALLERY OF MODERN ART GLASGOW  Sanctuary - an exhibition that examines human rights issues facing refugees and asylum seekeres - is opening The  Selling Show on Sat May 10th to Sunday August 3rd.
